Ozzie’s Words Do Nothing…..

We all enjoy listening to Ozzie Guillen and his words about his team year after year.  Between laughing at low expectations of his team to threatening to quit after the season is over time and time again.  This week the so-called “Wizard Of Ozz” gave us these nuggets.

On fans who criticize Ozzie for playing DeWayne Wise over Brian Anderson:
“If they don’t like it when Wise comes to hit, turn the TV off, turn the radio off or turn around and start walking toward the concession stand….they don’t have to watch him hit.”

On Gordon Beckham’s debut game:
“Bad…Real bad.”

On believing in this White Sox team:
”I think we have enough talent out there to win. Some people want to believe it. I believe it right now, and I’ll believe it until I say, ‘You know what? I don’t think we can do this.”’

After a game 1 loss to Detroit….Here’s what Ozzie had to say:
“If this was the 1980s, (none) of these guys would be in the big leagues right now because if you hit .210-.230 and you can’t execute, I don’t think you should be out here,”

“Is the clubhouse closed?” Guillen said. “We should open it and let them (answer) why they’re so horse (bleep).”

“One thing about it: Good teams win games. Bad teams have meetings. Well, I think we’re to the point of having a lot of meetings.”

Now some in the media take offense to some things Ozzie says because they consider them sensitive and/or borderline racist or demeaning….that’s another debate.  I want to concentrate strictly on what he says about the team he manages.

If you were a player on this team and you’re giving your all and try to be as upbeat as possible through the struggle that has been the 2009 Chicago White Sox season….isn’t this the last thing you need?  When the guy who runs your club is calling your effort “horse ****” and constantly insults your play time and time again….does that really fire you up?  Look at the roster that you had going into this year.  Besides Konerko/Dye/AJ/Ramirez/Quentin…..what do you have?  HOLES

You can be a bad team and still play at the major league level…..i.e. Nationals/Royals/Diamondbacks.  It’s not that the Sox aren’t trying….it’s just a bad mix and I think Ozzie is starting to finally realize it or knew it before and is tired of the combo he was given.  Is Ozzie losing touch with this team or losing some weight when it comes to decisions on this team?

When you bring up Gordon Beckham, Aaron Poreda, Chris Getz, and have Clayton Richard in the rotation….how can you not call this a rebuilding year?  I think in the end Ozzie doesn’t want to call it that, but the ol family of ‘05 is getting old and by bringing back player after player (i.e. Podsednik/Garcia)…..you’re only holding your organization back even further.

It’s time to blow it up, let the kids play and LIVE WITH IT.

Ozzie needs to shut up and start building a team for 2010 and so on…..stop living in the past and be realistic about all of this.  Ozzie…Your Words Do Nothing For This Team.  They’re either too old and don’t care for you anymore or too young and don’t know how to handle them.  Be the manager and have fun like your personality is supposed to reflect and not the old mean tyrant your latest BS has shown.

Actually, Ozzie is right. And most Sox fans like him this way. Maybe its you that needs to reflect a little, Rock

John,

You gotta do better than this. Tighten up the verbiage, be better at putting sentences together and develop your themes with stronger analysis. Maybe then you will get some hits over here.

Stating the obvious has no persuasive effect – we know what the Sox did in roster moves – now analyze it vis a vis the record of comments made by Kenny and Ozzie from Spring training to now.

Didn’t know I was getting graded on my english. I’m not a writer by any means nor should I be judged like one.

I’m not trying to persuade anything……it’s just my opinion of what should happen now. I’m not a writer who keeps quotes from Feb and earlier. I see it like you cause I am just like you.

As far as getting hits….I’m fine with people reading or not reading…..doesn’t matter to me. It’s just an outlet for me in between feeding my son and watching the Herd.

Peppers One-and-Done?

by Dan Bernstein
One of the Bears’ savviest-ever moves was the hiring of former agent Cliff Stein in 2002.  Three years ago, he was put in charge of all player-contract negotiations as Senior Director of Football Administration and General Counsel.  Since then, the team has balanced nicely their major expenditures and cap flexibility, maintaining the liklihood [...]
