Off Line
At the heart of the Bears’ inexcusable-across-the-board performance yesterday were two groups of large men who failed to do their jobs. When there is no tackling and no blocking, there will be mistakes by “skill” players on both sides of the ball required to do more than they otherwise would.
The defensive line, said to be refocused and better prepared under new position-coach Rod Marinelli, barely seemed to exist. Cedric Benson exploded through gaps, ignoring arm-tackles and finishing off runs with power after contact. Carson Palmer, when the need arose, had time enough in the pocket to check his e-mail before firing a deep square-in in front of the safeties.
They were not helped by confused cornerbacks, misjudged pursuit angles by linebackers and safeties, and Nick Roach not getting deep enough fast enough in zone drops.
On offense, I saw every single member of the line get beaten individually at least once. They look small inside and slow outside. Frank Omiyale was tossed aside like a practice dummy. Olin Kreutz was losing at the point of attack, when he wasn’t snapping the ball to Jay Cutler’s shins. The Bengals’ ability to rush just four allowed them to dictate downfield, with seven in pass coverage controlling the Bears’ unremarkable receivers. For good measure, Greg Olson contributed some hideous in-line blocking, too.
Are we getting close to the ritual sacrifice of OL coach Harry Hiestand?
This criticism does not excuse Matt Forte’s soft, weak running, Jay Cutler’s bad throws, or receivers’ lack of physical play.
We will eavesdrop on Lovie Smith’s press conference at 3:45, and get a report on the carnage from Zach Zaidman.

According to D&T, weren’t the Bears supposed to be immune to blowouts because of Jesus H. Cutler? Oops.

gochisox10,
Not really. I could definitely see next week being the only game they win in November. Although I do believe they will end up winning two of the five games they play in November. Next week at home against Cleveland better be one of the wins. If it isn’t I’ll officially be declaring the 2009 season over in here next Monday.
Besides the Brown game Sunday, I think they will end up winning either in SF or at home against Arizona. Although after watching the Cardinals last night and in their two previous games, it certainly is looking more and more like that game will be a loss. SF would seem to be the better shot at a win. However that is a road game and on a Thursday night so depending on what type of injuries the Bears sustained in their game the previous Sunday, I could certainly see them losing in SF too.
Before the game in Atlanta, I said I thought these next 7 games would be a test and likely would determine whether or not the Bears made the playoffs this year. I had them going 2-5 or possibly even 1-6 in this stretch so at least in my mind they are right on track to be where I thought they would be. I can see why people are upset with the effort yesterday, but let’s be honest this team is mediocre at best. If it wasn’t for some bad field goal kicking by Pittsburgh and Seattle, this team would and probably should be 1-5 right now.

Cincinnati did win me some cash…. was in vegas over the weekend and bet $50 on em with a -110 money line….. time to mail in my stub for $95 and change!!!

DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’… HOLD ON TO ThAT feeeeeeeliiinnn!
DSE
Are we done saying Greg Olsen is good? I can’t see much of a reason to ever draft a TE high, as you can usually find someone off the scrap heap who can run down the field and not fight for a ball.
BVEL
The thing with olsen is you can’t really call him your #1 TE…. they need to move Clark back to “#1″ status so olsen can line up on the weak side and release on LB’s and not have nearly as much pressure to block which everyone knows he can’t and he was never sold to us as a blocker by any stretch of the imagination…. He basically breaks down as a slow WR who occasionally can help double team and chip off…..
mockeylock
That’s great BVEL, but that doesn’t sound like a TE who should have been drafted in the first round. I think it’s inexcusable to draft a TE in the first round anyways, unless your team is solid in all phases AND he’s an unbelievable prospect. The Bears obviously weren’t when they selected him in 2007, and Olsen wasn’t that type of prospect. Brent Celek, Kevin Boss, and Dante Rosario were all drafted in the 5th round that year.
Rooftop Bum
Quick question. As a Bears fan, who are we cheering for next week, Green Bay or Minnesota?
I would say Vikings. It looks like they are clearly the class of the division and should win it easily. Let’s just forget about the division at this point. I don’t think either the Bears or Packers are in the same class with the Vikings even with the loss yesterday.
Right now we are basically two games behind Green Bay. (4-2. 3-3 and we lost head to head) I think the Packers are better then the Bears, but I’m not sure they are good enough to make the playoffs. We have to beat them when they come here In the end the loss to Atlanta really hurts the Bears in any tie breaking scenarios. It looks like the Saints are going to win that division, and Atlanta is probably good enough to get a wild card. The two biggest games of the year are going to be the two games at home against Philly and Green Bay. If the Bears don’t win both, you can probably kiss good bye to any shot at the playoffs.
DSE
BVEL, you are 100% correct, and the lineups yesterday reflected that. They already silently made Dez their #1 again.
Denver Smeghead
“As a Bears fan, who are we cheering for next week, Green Bay or Minnesota?”
How about we cheer for the Bears offensive and defensive lines to show up before we worry about what other teams do?
Chris in Scottsdale
Monkeylock-
When the Bears drafted Olsen, they were coming off a super bowl loss, and had eight pro-bowlers. They looked solid in all phases. Other than shoring up potential depth issues, the only thing that seemed like a glaring need was getting more targets for… Rex Grossman.
Man. I can’t believe I said that.
But Olsen was considered a legit first round prospect by Kiper, Athlon, etc… and the Bears took him 31st. He may still be a very good player- I know we all wish he had shown more by now, but is it already time to label him a bust? If so, then that may be the worst draft in franchise history:
Round Pick Player Position College
1 31 Greg Olsen Tight end Miami
2 62 Dan Bazuin Defensive End Central Michigan
3 93 Garrett Wolfe Running back Northern Illinois
3 94 Michael Okwo Linebacker Stanford
4 130 Josh Beekman Guard Boston College
5 167 Kevin Payne Strong Safety Louisiana-Monroe
5 168 Corey Graham Cornerback New Hampshire
7 221 Trumaine McBride Cornerback Ole Miss
7 241 Aaron Brant Offensive Tackle Iowa State
BVEL
I understand not taking a TE that high, but Chris thanks for making my point. Since Dez has taken back the #1 duties, this can’t do anything but help olsen. I expect him to put up a big game on Cleveland along the lines of 6 catches, 85 yards and 1 TD….. When Olsen is out there he is basically a 3rd or 4th receiver who lines up as a down lineman for the most part…..
Coxswain Dachshund
mockeylock: “According to D&T, weren’t the Bears supposed to be immune to blowouts because of Jesus H. Cutler? Oops.”
Really? When did they say that?
mockeylock
Obviously they weren’t solid in all phases, were they? The Bears are a .500 team since that Superbowl appearance. I still think it’s idiotic to take a TE in the first round. Unless he’s a prospect like Antonio Gates, I really don’t see the point. How many teams in the NFL do you watch and say, wow, that TE really was the difference in this team winning. If Olsen needs “help” in his 3rd year, i’m sorry – but he’s closer to being a bust than a legit first rounder. The rest of the Bears draft that year was a complete joke. The draft is so criticial – missing on so many players definitely comes back to haunt you.
JohnFromCedarTucky
I heard Bernsie say many times on the air that Cutler would keep the Bears from getting blown out. Remember folks Bernsie is NEVER WRONG about anyting. LOL!
pulseczar
The Bears are just horrible in so many phases of the game. It is systemic, personnel, execution… across the board bad.
They lucked into the Super Bowl by way of a weak NFC and haven’t built upon it at all.
At least LFC beat MUFC. 2-0

To be fair, Bernsie did say in te blog that Cutler played bad too. And did anyone (anyone!!! even D&T haters) expect the entire team to play that d a m n badly?! That game was, I hope I hope i hope, a gross abberation. That was Titans bad yesterday.

i actually stopped watching the game from about midway point of the second quarter to cook dinner(roast sirloin roast, whipped potatos, vegetables(frozen wasn’t real cooking)bread), and then i cleaned my living room and raked leaves, i never EVER DO those things on game day. NOBODY was prepared to play, this one is squarley on lovie’s shiney chin scar. i didn’t see any post game anything, nor have i read any papers today, just too disgusted to even peek at them, did lovie do a mea culpa or did he have excuses.
BIG TIME SUCKER(formly MABT)

Worst Bears game — ever? Well, in a long, long while. Does Lovie deserve one mulligan (sorry, Mike) before he’s allowed to right the ship or is this the beginning of the end? Because that was Tennessee Titans bad yesterday and I’d trade the Titans roster and their coaching staff for the Bears crew in a heartbeat with the exception of QB. But it’s getting harder to defend Jesus H. Cutler as he seems to be infected with the same bad football disease as the rest of them. Oh well, we have the orange pumpkin uniforms to look forward to next week against the even more woeful Browns. Start writing those John St. Clair revenges stories now!
BIG TIME SUCKER(formly MABT)
THIS is a good week to try the josh beekman project, maybe even give schaeffer a few reps at right tackle and williams a few reps at left tackle, maybe even allow omilayle to play a few series at tackle and beekmen and guard. but if there is anything good to come out of this past week, it was cinncinatti gave the bears the blueprint to build their team. big and mobile o linemen. a hungry running back. a talented and accurate QB(and like it or not Jesus H Cutler is both) a big enough receiver like chris henry(whom i was championing 2 years ago when he was available), an excellent route runner like ocho cinco, a short quick savy guy like coles and a burner like caldwell. that is a well put together team and it was an awful matchup for us.
The Fire & The Passion
Enough time has been devoted to wallowing in this cesspool of bad yesterday, I can’t throw up anymore, so I will not listen to Lovie’s presser, unless B&B really outdo themselves on the soundboard, I would love to have the controls for that press conference….
Mark McGwire coming back? Seriously? This should be good…

even if we have a “decent” o-line yesterday we still get the business handed to us….. just sayin….. glad I was on a flight back from vegas when this massacre happened which won me some $$$

You can’t run a Tampa 2 defense with bad safeties and no defensive line pressure. There are inherent weaknesses in the Tampa 2, and the Bears don’t have the personnel to run the scheme well- even if they were completely healthy.
Lovie is not going away from the Cover 2 defense. It’s what he is.
With all the big name head coaches looking to get back into the NFL, I wouldn’t mind seeing Lovie get the sack. I was never his biggest fan anyway. Moreso, they need to get rid of Angelo. He is beyond inept. Even moreso than both of them is the McCaskeys. All of them; just because.
BIG TIME SUCKER(formly MABT)
well, looking at the two running backs he shipped or sent packing, looking at the bad o line moves, the safeties, maybe it is worth a second look at JA i wouldn’t mind seeing bill cower, as he is well rounded both offensivly and defensivly, i know he covets carolina(if you saw the cbs pre game, he knew the whole carolilna situation chapter and verse, but couldn’t name some pretty well known guys elsewhere)
i think our offense would get better with shannahan but defensivly, not so sure. Jon Grueden would be a perfect fit for this town i think, the question is, would he go to church with V McCasky on sundays? isn’t that the top qualification for beign a bears coach?
david
lovie never challengers his favorite guys who feel way too comfortable with their spot on the team. lovie falls in love with athletic skill guys who have no football instincts.
turner, angelo, and lovie do not understand how to build a team around a quality quarter back, look at their track records
cutler needs to realize that if he is going to live by the sword, then he will also die by it.
and dying by the sword is more likely when you have garbage all around you and your throwing the ball 40+ times a game.
bears shouldn’t even be 3-3.
The Fire & The Passion
Why is anyone surprised at the 3-3 record? Did you look at this team and really think they would be 5-1 right now? They are who we thought they were……9-7 or 8-8
david
lovie is arrogant!
he doesn’t answer questions directly to the fans, as if “how dare we ask him”.
he is terrible at drafting players > dan bazuin!
bring in an offensive mind like jon gruden or mike shannahan, leslie frazier, or lebeau to change this team’s philosophy.
I’m done with the cover 2, it works well for dome teams and teams that play in warm areas you can’t be fast at soldier field with terrible footing and when you don’t get pressure up the middle.
in the winter, the bears need big men on the line, both offensively and defensively.
those athletic linemen like gaines and tommie are not long term solutions because you gradually lose that quickness and you need to be big if you want to be around in the league as you get older.
the bears play in the nfc north, they are not going to survive playing a finesse tampa 2 the majority of the time when you don’t have urlacher, tommie harris, or mik brown.
briggs, tillman, and alex brown seem to be the only veterans who are being accountable. adewale and tommie harris are out for themselves it seems .
tommie harris > carlos zambrano revisited.
david
fire and passion,
the bears are lucky their even 3-3 right now, they are not a legitimate team.
david
the rest of the leagues line men are getting bigger and faster.
the bears linemen are getting older, smaller, and they have mediorcre speed.
bears, horribly exposed.
we need some strong guys in the line to block for cutler.
the tampa 2 is not a scheme for cold weather, we need a wall like they have in minnesota.
General Soreness
I have been sick of Lovie for a long time now. There is nothing that irritates me more (except, maybe, my wife) then when the Bears are having one of their mistake filled, uninspired games and the cameras keep showing Lovie and those stupid expressions on his ugly face. I just want to punch him! Of all the coaches out there that could replace him, who would be the best fit for this team?
Beverly Brewmaster
I’m officially declaring the Bears’ season over and turning my full attention to hockey. The Crystal Ball got his first shutout of the year Saturday. Granted, it was against the anemic Predators, but he made a few quality saves in the process. Like him or not, the Hawks are going to need Huet to produce if they want to be a serious threat for the Cup. Both in Washington and here, Huet has been streaky and seems to get into funks when he’s not all there mentally. He’s facing another offensively-challenged club in the Wild tonight, so here’s hoping the Man from France finally gets things going.
david
lovie wen’t for a FG with :01 left in the first half when they were down 0-31, to get some “motivation”.
you kidding me?
playoffs!?
david
Beverly Brewmaster,
the bears need to get offensive, bottom line.
maybe bring in leslie frazier as defensive coordinator, or another d-coordinator that is on the rise.
as HC, we need to get a guy that can build the team around Cutler. Ted Phillips needs to pull a Jim Zorn on Jerry Angelo and give the keys to a guy like Shanahan or Jon Gruden who can build this team up.
that’s not so easy, because most coaches have their personal favorites for coordinators and you can”t have your pick on everyone
its not like your playing GM in Madden 2010.

I’m over-reacting (but not really because I’m not shocked at their current record) just because Smith and Angelo do less than nothing for me.
Cutler could flourish under Shanahan. They know each other. Mike’s a “Chicago Guy” too. Just sayin’
Cower, Gruden, Dungy… anyone!
I think the Redskins and Cowboys will out bid the Bears for any coach. Not that Lovie is going anywhere…
I can always hope.
SPAULDING!
Every day, I hope for headlines that a team in some major sports league will just roll up. There’s too many in all four sports, and the fans (excluding fans of the Yankees) have to watch guys who really just cash checks or fill out the injury lists. No more cities (Do you hear me London?) need an NFL franchise.
L.A. has had two (three?) chances, and failed. Nothing has changed there.
In Football, the “haves” have, somehow, either managed to draft incredibly lucky, or violated the (absolutely necessary) salary cap. Great, Pittsburgh, New England, or Indianapolis back in the AFC Title game one more time.
BIG TIME SUCKER(formly MABT)
david, are you just making random comments? why are you worrying about who ends up in LA? (my money is on the Rams, people in St Louis are so baseball crazed that nothing else really matters in that town) what i really wonder is how can KALLIEFORNIA can afford to build a stadium when it is the hardest hit recession state. how does the govenator continue to get his way despite the pathetic free fall that state is in? our problems pale in comparison with theirs and yet their government continues to function, i don’t get it at all.
anyone buy window’s 7 yet? and i appologize to anyone who owns stock but i cheer when the dow goes down because then oil goes down. my area of the state will be at $3.00 a gallon by years end, your area will be at 3.25 to 3.50 depending on if your city or suburb by years end oil continues the way it is.

FIRE THEM ALL!
Dan was talking about how the Bears were finally going to play “Real NFL Football” behind Cutler. Well how is that working out for you Dan? The Bears offense looks hasn’t looked this bad since ‘05. I know a horrible O-line is to blame for this, but at some point you have to blame the Bears coaching staff.
First of all, Cincy took four minutes to ATTACK and score on their opening drive. The Bears then got the ball and dinked and dunked their way to midfield….then had to punt. That “drive” took over 5 minutes just to get 25 yards. The Bears don’t try to attack down field, get creative, or do anything offensively.
2nd, I why can’t they get rid of Hunter Hillemeyer already? The guy is f’n terrible. Last time he played the Sam LB was ‘07 and the Bears would get gashed, and look confused quite a bit. Go get Derrick Brooks and put him at mikeLB, move Roach to Sam……or at the very least switch up Hunter and Roach.
3rd…..PLAY BEEKMAN! OMIYALE IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER! How many weeks do they want to see Jay being picked up from the ground? Maybe Beekman does his job better, which means will help Olin, and Pace who are next to him. Just put a competent damn linemen in the game.
4th…..get Turner out of town. He is terrible, and I don’t see the purpose of you guys protecting him every week, every year. He is awful and stuck in the early 90’s. Watch other football games around the league and see what they are doing offensively. I am tired of the excuses. Turner is garbage, which in turn makes Cutler look like garbage.
SHARK
Guys, this was bad from the getgo. Besides the lack of pressure on Cincinnati QB Carson Palmer, who I think is hurt, & Cedric Benson biting the hand that once fed them and almost putting 200 yards on the Bear defense, the Bear offense seemed to go nowhere fast. The offensive line did a terrible job protecting Jay Cutler, the running game was DOA, and it got so bad, Caleb Hanie played the waning few minutes, and nearly had one of his 3 passes picked off in this debacle! The 45-10 mauling by the Bengals was a team effort, and head coach Lovie Smith needs to accept responsibility for not getting this team prepared to play. Imagine the outrage if the Kevin James-looking Eric Mangini and his bumbling Browns come into Soldier Field Sunday and beat the Bears. If you thought Doug & O.B. were furious yesterday on their postgame show, imagine how mad they’ll be if the Bears lose to Cleveland on the Lakefront…It was undisciplined, unprepared and as bad a performance I’ve seen from a Lovie team since becoming head coach 6 years ago.

As someone who is generally a Turner backer, the Offense is his unit and those in charge of running that unit (the GM and head coach who acquires talent and the OC) are ultimately responsible for it’s lack of production. The problem I have with the “fire Ron Turner” argument, however, is that it’s based on his supposed inability to call plays. THAT argument is factually ****. The fact of the matter is that this team has not been able to acquire any talent worth a **** (other than Cutler) over the past few years, and that’s Angelo’s fault. If you want to say “fire Ron Turner” as a part of “firing Jerry Angelo” and “firing Lovie Smith”, I’d support that.

Wow, I really hate being right in moments like these.
Bernsey, I TOLD YOU SO!!!
Does Cutler AUTOMATICALLY make the Bears better? NO.
We, a mediocre team, simply swapped QB’s with a good team.
Lovie is still the coach, Turner is still the OC, Hester should still be returning kicks, the O-line is sill terrible, the defense is still getting older and slower. And…yea…..glad we got the “coaching genius” of Rod Marinelli, the guy who turned in the WORST single season record in the history of the NFL, …yea grab him up quick!
Cutler is currently ranked 21st in the league among NFL QB’s, sure it’s not all his fault, what with the line, receivers, poor running game, and bad coaching. But that was exactly the point I attempted to make with you on the air the Thursday afternoon before opening day. Despite the fact that Cutler’s history and stats are (well WERE now) far superior to Orton, the System is too flawed for him siomply walk in and take this team any further than they could make it without him.
Your reply was simply and I quote….”Cutler is the system”
They might beat, the Browns, the Rams, and the Lions again.
6-10 at best.

D&T, the Cutler apologists are back out in full force. So let me get this straight….Jesus H. But you are the same guys that said just last week that the Bears would be in every game because of him. So which is it????

I turned off the game right before half-time. Remember when you could at least hope for a well timed interception or take-away from the Bears defense? The only shining spot on the day was watching Farve get intercepted in the final minute of his game. Some pleasures go on year after year.

bears have no offensive talent evaluators, particularly at the o line. It has been the weak link for years, as Angelo somehow believes that old linemen free agents who were once great can really help us.
its not just lovie, its also angelo. They don’t know how to put the necessary pieces for a team to build around its Pro Bowl QB.

i think andy believes in the cover 2 shell for a defensive philosophy. Bill Cower has been the most successful of all the coaches out there in DEVELOPING TALENT. isn’t that step one? recognizing and developing talent? think of all the players he lost every year in Pittsburgh and how many would just step right in place. Kevin Green, Kevin Foster, Yancy Thigpen, Mark Bruening, Greg Lloyd to name a few, they would lose top shelf talent like this every year and replace them and make the playoffs every year. I’m convinced the offensive line couldn’t open a birthday present, much less a running lane for Forte or Wolfe. I’m not much a fan of Ron Turner either. But yesterday’s game was a total team failure – and what is with this team – are we going to take talented QB’s and turn them into interception throwing machines every time?!?!? I had a lot of patience with Grossman, I don’t know if that’ll happen with Cutler.
Likquid Swordz
Considering that its almost impossible to “blow up” a football team, I would say the Bears should focus on key parts of either line in order of importance.
1. LT
2. DTs
3. DEs
4. LG
5. RG
6. C
Or maybe center goes higher considering the current center has this thing about snapping footballs thru the QBs legs. Either way, I think if you fix the lines, the skill positions will improve somewhat. So the dreams of #1 WR will be put on the back burner until the lines get younger and talented.
Wisconsin Drew
As a packer fan I can relate to the tendency to see the sky as falling after getting run up and down the field by the Bengals. The Bengals did roughly the same thing to Green Bay, only the Packers were at home for their beat down. It’s hard to accept the Bengals are a good football team. They beat the Steelers and Ravens in addition to their beating up on nfc north. And like the Packers, demoralized bear fans will see that the Cleveland Browns will go along way to making you forget the Bengals. The best compliment I can give Jay Cutler, is that as a packer fan, I’d much rather face the Bears with Kyle Orton for the next 4 years. Lastly, I hate, hate , hate the vikings and their phony qb.
BIG TIME SUCKER(formly MABT)
drew nice try, you guys allowed 15 points less and scored 14 points more than we did sunday. it was a game until the end, this one was over by the end of the first quarter. the offense could never get in rythem and the defense couldn’t get off the field. benson and ochocinco had 100 yards by halftime. it was a different game. the only thing awful about your game was the five sacks by odom. but i will welcome the scrimmage next week(if we prepare properly, that’s what it should resemble).

bottom line > not enough talent on bears defense. Aging stars like Urlacher and Harris battling injuries while you have late round draft picks scattered in your secondary. It’s just not going to happen when you don’t have the talent there. Occasionally you will find a diamond in the rough like Briggs or Tillman from the 3rd round but you jsut can’t expect to build your secondary and defense with a bunch of no names.

Terry & Dan:
LeBron Mexico here.
To the delusional sycophantic Bear fan who said about 5 minutes ago stated that “the Bears will win the division if Brett Favre goes down”:
Is this based on Favre’s history of injury? The man hasn’t missed a start since the George H. W. Bush administration. Don’t see things that aren’t there to justify your blind loyalty to an organization run by The McCaskeys, a family who couldn’t possibly give less of a damn about you or any other fans no matter who much “fire” and “passion” they exhibit. Pathetic…

Everyone is upset about the way the Bears lost yesterday, and rightfully so. They didn’t show up. But in the words of Coach Green “They are who we thought they are!” They are an average football team. Outside of Cutler and Briggs, name one player on their roster who is considered a “great” player. They have an average coach, a GM who would rather over pay Tommie Harris, Nathan Vasher, and Brian Urlacher than sign top level free agents from outside the organization. They are bad on the O-line, and average on the D-line. The secondary has been bad for years, and they sign Bullocks, and use late round picks to address a very important part of the head coaches signature defense. The Bears will finish 8-8 or 9-7 and just miss the playoffs again. Just like everyone was predicting before the season started.
SPAULDING!
This game is about blocking. Didn’t San Francisco and Dallas prove that? Don’t other teams continue to prove that? I take that to mean that, in the NFL, any given team should be able to expect blocking on sixty five percent of the game (both sides included). That’s a failure percentage, but no team should be able to say “uh, we can’t block anybody, any where, any time.” So, what kind of schemes can either of the side run, if both sides are getting beat at the line of scrimmage most of the time? How does management not take care of this part of the game?
They might as well play man-to-man on defense and play action on offense every time.

Sounds good Bucs. My goal is to trade away all of our draft picks this year so I can just take the whole spring/summer off and go on endless vacations. I’m doing good. So far I’ve traded the first, second, and third round picks.

After watching the last two Bear games, and looking at their schedule the month of November, (Cleveland at home, Arizona at home, AT SF, Phil. at home, and AT Minnesota) is there any reason I shouldn’t be thinking the only game they will win the whole month will be next week against Cleveland?
