Don’t Hate the Yanks? WYC?
UPDATE: NY Daily News reports the Sox have traded Chris Getz and Josh Fields to KC for Mark Teahen. First thought…meh. Teahen is just a guy, and I guess he takes over in RF. Nix to 2B? Fine.
I like the Yankees.
I guess I appreciate them more than I “like” them, but it is misplaced energy for anyone in Chicago to grind their teeth over their 27th title. They do what should be done, especially by a proud franchise in a two-team town: they maximize revenue on the business side to aid the baseball side, and their ownership and fans hold them to a championship standard.
Both the Cubs and Sox (now that the Cubs have owners with undivided intention) should aspire to such things, and I think they do.
We can discuss the game today, and begin to look forward to the opening of spring training in, what, 100 days? The Second Half is at 3:30, Zach has a Bears report, and “Who You Crappin?” is set for 5:00.
Bulls at Cavs tonight at 7:00, with Cleveland — surprisingly — having lost two games already. Luol Deng gets to follow up his career game by matching up with a pretty tough cover.
Shameful that Marcus Jordan’s loyalty to his dad’s shoe-brand has cost his school millions of dollars in the forfeiture of their all-sport sport contract with Adidas. UCF should have strong-armed him, instead of kowtowing to a nothing player with a famous last name.
Join us tomorrow at the Old Towne Pub in Geneva for the Bud Light “Who Needs Two?” Tavern Tour. You’ll have a chance to win Bulls tickets, and you can enjoy Friday Fung at 4:00 — “Ask Us Anything.”

I dont “Like” the Yankees or appreciate them. How can you appreciate a team that has the state of New York backing them up as well as every other bandwagon jumper in the nation? How can a team like the Royals or Reds ever compete with that monster? They can’t. The Cubs have a chance at doing what they do to an extent (Pay over 423 million dollars in contracts in one off season) but the Sox in all honesty can’t. Bernstein WYC?
There are few teams that actually sell out every game and gain national attention to fund a team that well and the White Sox are not one of them. In my opinion only 3 teams have sell out crowds consistantly and should be investing in talent the way the Yankees can. The first being the Yankees, second being the Red Sox and third being the Cubs. I’m not talking about annual salaries because thats not consistant year after year but there is no way the Sox can sign long term contracts the way these teams can. I don’t even think the Cubs can at this point in time. How can you admire a team that has more money then God and want other teams with 1/2 the revenue to do the same? It’s impossible.
BIG TIME SUCKER(FORMERLY MABT)
bernstein has a point, but it’s slanted by the realities you mentioned skater, but the counter reality is this, if the reds and or royals make the world series, i ain’t watching that either
BIG TIME SUCKER(FORMERLY MABT)
pretty much, unless a chicago team or the pirates(sentimental reasons) make the world series, i ain’t watching. if the cubs could make a yankee’s like model, i would be most pleased. that i know is true.

All I need is is a million dollars for room and board, tuition, living expensens, private tutors, and wage compensation. And so can you!
The 2008 Jon Cheese squad couldn’t get out of the playoffs. So their GM got, yet another, dumptruck full of cash to buy out his problems. It’s exactly what Pete Rozelle was fighting against.
Sure, Charlie Manue apparantly didn’t let the bullpen make the commute, but without a salary cap, Kashmann can simply buy Carlos Lee, Chase Utley, AND, heck, throw in Jason Schwartz and Brad Lidge, and Philly will have to scrape like the rest of the sadsack franchises.

I could be wrong, but
You might change your mind if the Cubs were actually a real franchise that tried to compete. They came close in 2003. That’s it. Guys you never heard, with some over-hyped nonsense players, were actually giving the best they had. They got beat by themselves and a team that cared even more.
It works for several teams (that aren’t the Redwings, Lakers, Spurs, Yankees, or Pittsburgh and New England). It’d be easier to appreciate the accomplishments of the Royals and the Reds if the playing field was leveled.
Bernstein is correct in that Yankee fans and the organization hold them to championship standards, but no one else in MLB can print money like they can.

Hense, i didn’t watch this years world series either. but the business model is worth attempting(the yankeess) and if ricketts can get a business model like theirs going, GOD BLESS HIM because it will turn our once in a blue moon dreams to legitimate contenders year in year out dreams. and that’s what i and most cub fans feel we deserve

I dont want a cap on baseball but the fact of the matter is if you buy the best your gonna win championships. What other team can afford C.C., Burnett, Teixeira, A-Rod, Jeter, Rivera, Damon and “Godzilla” at one time?
I’m a fan of baseball so I watch the games no matter who’s in the playoffs and W.S. but I don’t blame anyone who dont. Most fans are only a fan of their team and not the sport as a whole. It’s weird cuz most people watch the NFL playoffs and the Superbowl even if the Bears aren’t there but never watch baseball, hockey or basketball playoffs and championship games. Guess cuz it’s only a few games.

“has cost his school millions of dollars in the forfeiture of their all-sport sport contract with Adidas”… well as they say.. the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree does it? Its all about me! Dan you didnt expect anything different from the horndog’s offspring did you?
Spaulding. gosh your so right!! Dan is to in the fact that fans should create a level that is to be expected but really, anyone can solve a problem with dump truck loads of cash. (Look what our government is doing and the Yankees use real cash) Id be more impressed if it too creativity and innovation to win which was more the case for the Phillies last year. The Yankees represent what is our society today which means anything can be bought and yes thats all the way up to the oval office. I guess sometimes thats why many dislike them.
Skater RIch
I’m a Sox fan and I usually find it amusing to argue with them over the meaningless crosstown rivalry but being a Chicagoan I really feel since the Cubs are “The” team baseball wise here that the rest of the nation looks at us like lovable losers.
As much as I hate to admit, I want the Cubs to just get it done already to lift the shame and disgrace they have projected on this city for over 100 years. GOD.

27 championships. In addition to being able to dole out the coin, that kind of resume certainly helps attract good talent to your team. I don’t want a salary cap on baseball either but the money the Yankees have is insane. Like BTS said, maybe the Cbs could go with that business model but they still need the culture of winning to complete the package. As for the W.S…. I was hoping the Phillys would pull it off, even though I played little league with Joe Girardi and his brother and have a lot of respect for Joe. I tend to root against the east coast teams but it was cool to see a hometown boy win as a manager. So congrats to Joe.
2nd Half Adjustment
Skater: small market teams can do it, they just have to draft and develop much better. The Rays were in the World Series last year, and have the talent to get back there again, frankly. The Reds and Royals have terrible front offices and aren’t able to develop talent. The White Sox are a unique franchise in MLB in that they do have the resources now to spend like a big market team, but are the big market team most attuned to the economy and needs their team to be good in order to be a big market team (the other big market teams I’d include would be the two LA teams and the Mets).
Baseball doesn’t need a salary cap. Spending a ton of money (or not spending money) doesn’t guarantee anything. It’s all about how you spend the money, the Yankees this year just spent it right. A salary cap won’t make Mark Shapiro any smarter at baseball, nor will it improve the Pirates/Reds/Blue Jays/Royals. Look at Texas and Baltimore and even the White Sox: all have drafted much better of late and you’ll start to see the fruits of that on the field soon.
It’s all about the type of talent you pay; look at how much the Yankees spent between 2001 and 2009 and what did it get them? Nothing. A-rod went through a slump in those playoffs and they didn’t have any starting pitching. And go take a look at the numbers of every team this decade to win the WS the year after they win (I mean the pitching staffs). All of them regressed. That’s why the White Sox went and got Vasquez and the Phillies traded for Cliff Lee. The Yankees have some real competition in that division (I still can’t believe the Rays were as mediocre as they were this year and think they’ll bounce back next year), and AJ Burnett is an injury waiting to happen. Other than CC, who else is in the Yankee rotation? Pettitte? Again? At 38?
The only players on the Yankees I dislike are Swisher and Marte. How can karma justify Damaso Marte having 2 world series rings and Jim Thome having none? WTF is that?!
Beverly Brewmaster
I’m actually somewhat torn on the whole Yankees model. Sure, they finally won again this year, but they’ve been spending like drunken sailors all decade and frankly, compared to what the Red Sox have done when it comes to throwing cash around, I’m not all that impressed by one championship. When the Yankees were winning in the ’90s, they were doing it with the strength of their farm system. Once they started going out and buying every free agent on the market, they did so at the expense of their farm system and as such they couldn’t close the deal despite having the best team in baseball on paper for several years. I think the Red Sox are a better model of investing in the farm system and younger talent and then supplementing that with free agent spending sprees.
The one thing I really enjoyed hearing from Tom Ricketts was his statement about building the minor-league infrastructure of the team. If the Cubs can develop a world-class system, and then use free agency to fill in the gaps, they’ll be a contender for years to come and THAT’S what will bring a championship to the North Side.

Your right that teams can win it all by way of production through the farm but not as easily as buying players who you know will produce…thats what we are all saying.
Nobody grooms players through theeir farm better then the Twins….Do they have 27 rings? No, because when the team is all together the stars on that team all get bought up by big market teams. Why do you think they are selling everyone under Mauer off to keep him. Why do you think that pitching staff is half it used to be without Santana?
Anything is possible in baseball or any sport for that matter but when you have cash to buy talent and experience its a hell of a lot easier.

Dont forget in the 90’s 10 players on the Yankee roster were named on the list for doing PED’s. Here’s my personal view on the Twins: Yes, they have individually great players, but not great teams. This past decade, the AL Central has been overwhelmingly mediocre, with 2 exceptions: 2005 and 2006. The Twins only won the division one of those times, and when they have won the division the rest of the time, they have been the least mediocre team (2009 is a perfect example).
I don’t think the Twins are THE model franchise, other than Johan, what truly great pitching have they drafted? Yes, they drafted Joe Mauer, but as I recall, pretty much everyone thought he’d be really good, just not as good as Mark Prior. They certainly lost on the ‘Bartlet for Young’ trade. Frankly, I’ll take the White Sox model as currently constituted. I think the White Sox are in for a very nice little run for the next 5 years, given who they have.
With the Twins, it’s not that they can’t pay their players, ownership just refuses to do so. Terry brought up a really interesting point a few weeks ago about what they are going to do with Mauer & Morneau now. What other parts do they even have besides Mauer and Morneau? Orlando Cabrera? Nick Punto? The aforementioned Young? Brendon Harris? Carlos Gomez? If they’re so great at talent evaluation, how come they got absolutely no talent in return for Johan? Carlos Gomez SUCKS.
2nd Half Adjustment
Mark Tehan? Where on earth are the Sox going to play him?!

Well, if there’s one thing this post-season has taught us, and hopefully the local baseball braintrust as well, it’s that once you get to the playoffs you dont need a deep starting rotation. Thanks to TV, and the ridiculous schedule with off days, there were 18 games played by the World Series Champs over a 36-day period. They never had a need for even a 4th starter. A solid 4 & decent 5 guy are a necessity in the regular season, but once the playoffs start, as long as this TV schedule stays in place and they’re playing games into Novemver, you’ll never see a team go 4-deep again.
BVEL

1 – i just told you why they dont have great teams. They cant keep the stars around long enough to form one with a good mix of young talent and veteran experience.
2 – I never said they were a model franchise but as far as player development and drafting they really are top of the food chain. You are the one who said teams can win the W.S. through the farm system, not me. I was giving the prime example of winning through a farm system and in all reality you need more then just that. You need experience and players who are guaranteed to produce.
3 – Gomez does not suck at all, he has a long swing and he’s a bit too flashy for the way the Twins play. If he shortens up his swing that kid is going to be a major threat. Gardy wont let him do what he wants out there and I think he feels like hes being held down. That kid is in his 2nd year and fields center as good as anyone out there, he can hit for power but would be more dangerous hitting for average. Thats all he needs to get throough his head and in my opinion i don’t think that will be too hard for him to do. He bunts and runs bases better then anyone in MLB. It’s not his fault the Twins play an over the top fundamental game and wont stand for the flash that Gomez would bring if he was able to.
Skater RIch
Teahen will play right field cuz J.D. will be gone. Rios in right, Q in left. Getz will be replaced by Ramirez, Bacon to short and Viciedo at third. Hoping J.D. will be DH.

Bernsy, I love ya man but don’t ever tell me to not hate on the Yankees. Not only do I hate the team, I hate the fans as well. I used to travel for work quite a bit and spent many months in NY. They have the most arrogant, obnoxious fan base in all of baseball. I went to a ChiSox @ Yankees game in 2000, and the Sox were kicking their ***. All I did was cheer at a Sox home run and I got peanuts thrown at me and some drunk New Yorker threatening to kick my @ss. Any team could win if they throw that much $$$ on the field. I am not impressed.
2nd Half Adjustment
In re Carlos Gomez. The numbers disagree with you: he’s a career .246 hitter. Who has hit all of 12 home runs. With 241 ks to 55 BB. In 1107 PA and 1029 games. That’s enough of a sample size. He terrorizes the White Sox and I know that he can run down anything in the outfield (except his uzr and uzr/150 were WAAAAAAY down from 08 to 09) but he does not impress me at all. At all. Denard Span is the much better player.
The Twins didn’t have to trade Johan, they decided to. And they just let Hunter walk, they didn’t even offer him a contract. That’s ownership not being willing to even try and pay up, no the inability to pay. What stars did the 02 Angels, 03 Marlins, 05 White Sox or 06 Tigers (who should have won) have?
I don’t think the Twins are very good precisely because they’ve never won anything but a mediocre division. Look at the Phillies. Rollins, Hammels, Howard, Utley, Victorino are all their guys. They’ve added great pieces like Lee, Feliz & Werth, but are built around talent they drafted. I think the Phillies are a better model than the Twins. I think the Rays are a better model than the Twins.

The Yankees are whats wrong with baseball, every year for the past 8 years they have bought the most expensive pitcher and hitter year in and year out. Dont tell me about well thats just smart baseball when obviously 90% of the rest of baseball just cant do that.
set a cap at 100-150 million for all teams and lets see how many titles the Yankees will win.
TownCrier
go ahead and add-up the salaries of their 4 pitchers and their 9-10 position players and you’ll have 180 MM of that 200+ MM payroll. The point is that they’re paying for ‘mistakes’…..players on other teams and players who may not even be playing anywhere. No other team has that luxury. Their scouts and GM aren’t any smarter than our guys. makes it tough to get excited when the playing field isn’t level.

I guess Teahen can play 3rd but are they dying to put Beckham at short?
No matter what position the guy hit 50 doubles which aint too bad. The fact he only had 50 rbi’s is because he was on the nobody gets on base Royals. With 50 doubles he should have had a hell of a lot more rbi’s, especially where he was in the batting order I always liked the guy and I think he would make an impact at the bottom of the order. Look at A.J.’s card this past year…I’s almost identical to Teahen (except for average) and if both of them can produce over 100 doubles in a year there will be a lot more production for them and for the top of the order. I dont think even in a full season Getz could bring Teahen numbers to the plate.
Beverly Brewmaster
Hey General, were you at the Wednesday game of that series? Oddly enough (particularly since I’m a Cubs fan who was going to school in Indiana at the time), I was out in the right field bleachers for that game. I saw some guy in a Sox jersey lean over the end of the upper deck shouting “Go Sox!” toward the bleachers and then two guys jumped him and threw his jersey into the bleachers. Whatever respect I had for Yankees fans (which wasn’t much) was lost after that game.

The Rays a better model then the Twins? The Rays were in the Cellar every year and were handed talent after talent that they just muffed up and finally decided to get it right last year. That farm was loaded with talent and a championship was long over due for them…see the Marlins and Diamondbacks for models on how to run an expansion team.
At least the Twins play to win every year, there is no denying that. They dont sit in the cellar and wonder why they suck. As far a s Santana and Hunter there is no way they would have been able to beat contracts from the Angels or the Mets, wake up and smell the coffee. They know this so they get what they can for those type of players. Even if they did pay the price the whole team would have suffered due to their budget. The Twins know how to keep a team in contention year after year and in my opinion thats how you please fans. Signing one stud to keep the masses happy isn’t the way, putting your team in position to win the division every year is and they do that.

My point was that the Twins never even TRIED to match the offers! They still had Johan under contract and decided to move him when they didn’t have to! You can’t say that they can’t compete with the big money teams when they make no effort to!
I certainly agree that putting your team in position to win every year is what keeps the fans interested, and I believe that Kenny Williams has done that (although not with this particular move) with the White Sox, whereas I do not believe the Twins will be able to compete when they lose Mauer. But, let’s see if they even offer him a reasonable long term deal. I’m betting they’ll go the cheap route (5 years, $90 million) and he’ll say what he should say (starts with an ‘f’, ends with a ‘you’), which is that franchise being UNWILLING to spend money, not unable.

Mauer will never leave the Twins, he’s a hometown player and loves the team and the city. The Twins just can’t insult him with a junk offer. Even if they did I think he would stay.
I never disagreed with your view on the Sox, I like Kenny’s moves year after year and even when I don’t they most always seem to work out to his favor in the end. I just think with the level of talent that Santana and Hunter had the Twins could never have matched the offers and they knew it. Why waste time with Jessica Alba when your best looking lady was Ugly Betty for example. They screwed up with the Santana trade by waiting too long but Hunter was a FA and they knew it was gonna be impossible to compete for him.

From my understanding during Jordan’s recruitment, UCF promised Jordan that he could wear Nike, “they would take care of it” So everyone is saying that Jordan is the bad guy because UCF could not live up to their promise? Like everyone is saying Marcus Jordan is not that good of a recruit where that type of promise should have been made. If Jordan had agreed to wear Adidas and then changed his mind once he got to UCF, he would of got burned by the media and the public, why is he stilled being burned because UCF couldn’t live up to their promise of him being able to wear Nike “without any problems they couldn’t handle”?

I will admit. The Phillies had their chances. Went over four runs in their three games at home and only won one of them.
The league never did need to expand beyond the 1990 (1992?) boundaries. Gary from Evanston’s favorite team could compete back then. The Cubs had to fear the Pirates.
Look what happened to the Braves–one of the best teams of the decade. New stadium and on one cares that they finished ahead of the Cubs in the wildcard. People in Colorado and Florida were Cardinals and Braves fans (the KMOX signal may carry better than 720 AM) My father in law lives in Panama City, and there is absolutely no consistent sports broadcast (TV) except east coast hockey.

Guys, as much as I don’t care for the New York Yankees winning their 27th World Series title last night in franchise history, I tip my cap to Joe Girardi. He got a raw deal when he filled out the lineup card in Miami with the Florida Marlins, but did an outstanding job managing all those egos and the high-priced free agents this past season in the Bronx. As for the rumored Mark Teahen/Chris Getz/Josh Fields deal, I don’t get it… First, Chris did a solid job at second base for the White Sox, and I thought he was going to be the full-time second baseman next year instead of Jayson Nix. Jayson may have hit 12 homers, but he wasn’t all that sharp defensively, and as we all know, that was a big part of the ‘09 Sox downfall. Second, much like the Red Sox already have a centerfielder in Jacoby Ellsbury when they acquired Brian Anderson last July at the MLB Trading Deadline, the Royals already have a second baseman in Alberto Callapso. I don’t know if Getz would get that much more playing time there if this deal is a reality. Third, where is Teahen playing? Is he the rightfielder with Jermaine Dye on the way out? Will he supplant Gordon Beckham at third with #15 taking over at second? Does Teahen platoon with Nix at second for that matter? Also, what does this mean for Scott Podsednik and possibly Chone Figgins, one of the few free agent prizes out there this hot stove league?

I don’t see why the Marcus Jordan thing is such a big deal… So he goes out and scores one point and it costs the team $3MM? The Washington Wizards paid almost as much per point for Gilbert Arenas last year, and you don’t hear them whining

What about Jesus Shuttlesworth?
BIG TIME SUCKER(FORMERLY MABT)
2nd half i was just adding to steve phillip’s birth mark’s thread. i know rhianna is hotter than oprah and beyonce is hotter than rhianna, although being hooked up to JayZ lowers her hotness 10fold. i was on the beyonce bandwagon when she was in destinies child when i saw the bugaboo video. her hotness peaked on the cover of the swimsuit issue. than she started getting over exposed. so objectivly she is super hot. subjectivly it’s time to find someone else.
Skater Rich
I thought the Teahen trade for Getz and Fields was a done deal? I know they signed Kotsay for another year.
I dont know why everyone is so down on Teahen, wer’e you all mad at A.J’s numbers? He briings the same and possibly a lot more if someone would get on base for him (50 doubles), I dont get where he’s gonna go but I would expect him to play right with either J.D. as the D.H. or gone for good. I don’t think they brought him on as a utility player seeinig that Kotsay is back and Nix is still on the squad. If he does play third look for Alexi to be at second and Backham at shortstop.
BIG TIME SUCKER(FORMERLY MABT)
bvel, he got game=completly underrated movie. i loved that flick for many reasons but ray allen did about as good as a non dramatically trained actor could doing an extremly dramatic piece. the back and forth scenes between him and denzell was great, especially the first one at the apartment, when his sister brought jake over. good soundtrack as well
BIG TIME SUCKER(FORMERLY MABT)
who will play third?
Skater Rich
Shark
maybe the Sox are afraid of Getz being injury prone. If you asked why they dumped Ross Gload a few years back I would have agreed but Getz seems to be quite fragile. I do agree he has a great glove but his offence is streaky at best.
As far as Pods…He Gone. Despite launching his career for the second time the Sox cant gamble on the new and improved bat Pods has somehow aquired. They have to stick with Q in left and Rios in center. Right field is locked up with J.D. or Teahen in my opinion. Pod’s looked good at the plate but his defence was pretty grim, his baserunning was even worse.
Cutler’s Choice
It’s time to play. . .
Alba
Simpson
or Beihl
Skater Rich
BTS
I’m guessing Chone Figgens if they can land him or Viciedo.
Don’t worry I know Chone is a major pipe dream. The money being spent on Viciedo in the farm system is pretty outrageous so I’m hoping he impresses in the fall leagues so he can prove himself in spring training.
Other then that I would guess another free agent….this is who is out there
Adrian Beltre 31 Seattle Mariners
Hank Blalock 29 Texas Rangers
Geoff Blum 37 Houston Astros
Joe Crede 32 Minnesota Twins
Pedro Feliz* 35 Philadelphia Phillies Club option
Chone Figgins 32 Los Angeles Angels
Troy Glaus 33 St. Louis Cardinals
Mike Lamb 34 Milwaukee Brewers
Melvin Mora*
Maybe we can get Crede or Blum back for all of the fans who are gonna miss Pods ha ha.
I’ll take Beltre, Blalock or Figgens. Crede can stay in twinkie land with that busted up back.
BIG TIME SUCKER(FORMERLY MABT)
and 2nd half, you want dan uggla? wasn’t the sox defense uggla enough. isn’t that the same uggla that errored the national league out of an allstar win? he is average at best below average to most. sure the guy can bop, and that fits the sox profile, but i would hope most sox fans want to shore up that d more than they want yet another one dimmensional slugger
The Fire & The Passion
ALBA….no BIEL…..grrrrrr….no ALBA….ya ALBA
Skater Rich

your right, the sox are loaded with power. They need situational hitters, someone who can bunt and yes they desprately need to learn some D. The defense alone cost them first place this year. I seriously believe that if you cut the errors made this year in half, that would have been the difference between first place and third place. I couldn’t believe how many runs were scored because of errors. By the way isn’t Alexei’s number for the 2010 season going to be E5? Well maybe E4 if Bacon takes over at short.
Skater Rich
So now that B&B said just what I wrote about Teahen are the haters going to change their minds? He shadowwed what I said to a T. Teahen will be better on the Sox because hopefully there will be runners on base for him.
It’s like Bernsie is reading my posts! WOW. He even mentioned the teams I was calling out for being treated unfairly for being in small markets. He should pay me for production.

2nd Half Adjustment
BTS: in re the hotness of Beyonce/Rihanna, well, as a *** man, I don’ t care about their hotness so much as their fierceness and the fact that she’s married to Jay-Z speaks more to Jay-Z’s game than anything else, at least in my world.
Go and take a look at some of Dan Uggla’s secondary and tertiary stats. He profiles out like a right handed Adam Dunn, only at 30 homers instead of 40. Yes, he strikes out a lot, but he walks a lot. Dan and Terry are right, the Sox need a DH. Uggla would be a perfect DH, at least in my world. The Sox don’t have near enough power right now. None. You have no assurances that Quentin will get back to 30 homers, Paulie has peaked and won’t get back there, Beckham will never hit 30 and neither will Rios, but for different reasons. Dan Uggla is an established Major League hitter. He’s good, offensively. I’ll take him in a heartbeat. Absolutely. Uggla is an underrated player.
Skater Rich
I dont know if this is a crazy rumor but I heard the White Sox are interested in Matsui as a D.H. Once again I’m not positive just heard it through a pretty reliable person.
BIG TIME SUCKER(FORMERLY MABT)
2nd half, that changes a lot. i still disagree with your music tastes but i have a better understanding why pop music might be more appealing to you. if i offended you, i am sorry.
uggla as a dh(which you didn’t specify earlier) is a more sensible option than uggla as a second baseman
Skater Rich
BTS
He did specify Uggla as a DH.
As far as White Sox DH in 2010 I like the idea of rotating it to give position players a break. Why live through a DH dry spell when you can keep whoever has a hot bat at the time in the DH spot while also giving them a rest. The DH is a waste of money if he is only limited to batting. I’m all for letting position players taking the job on rest days as long as whoever gets that spot for the night is swinging the bat well at that time or the match-up is in their favor. Righty/Lefty combo or if a batter has good success against a certain pitcher.
Brings more depth to the bench this way and the Sox have enough power to keep the 3rd spot in the line-up productive.
Skater Rich
2nd half
dont you get offended by all the stuff you read on posts like this?
BVEL
SR…. if you use the Boers logic, all you have to say is “my guy says the sox ar egetting Matsui” and bernsy has to like it……
Skater Rich
i thought all Boers logic included some kind of mustache ride?

SPAULDING!
Maybe this year’s NFL draft wasn’t any good. Maybe the Bears did all their homework not realizing that Jay Cutler was going to fall into their lap.
I think Matt Forte will be better next year.
I think the guys that stay healthy on the O-line can get better next year.
It is the most important part of the NFL. It can’t be bad forever. This is the offense that Grossman and Orton built.

Terry Boers will be able to support hockey fighting once he’s freed from Dan Bernstein. Every time Bernsie thinks TB will say something good about hockey fighting Bernsie threatens to pull the plug on TB’s life support system.

TB’s face on the picture here looks like it was severly burned or something, Bernsteins breath maybe?
SmithVecsey
That look on TB’s face is because Bernsie threatened to pull the plug on TB’s life support system.

Schaumburg has grown a lot and with it comes more issues with crime.
Still a nice suburb…but right now we are being held captive by whatever the police are up against close by.

The NY Yankees over pay so bad that they remind me of the little brat who wants everything. The success of late by this franchise is one to stay far away from, and the Cubs are in that pool. What success has NY really had since over paying for players? One win in 10 years. The Yankees want everyone else’s star. They are the brats of MLB and that’s all they are. I say congratulations for finally spending so much that you finally got another win. To me there is no challenge to promoting that type of game. I hate the Yankess and their fans for the arrogance they feel they must perpetuate to the rest of the sports base. I never want to be like their fans nor do I want my team to behave like their organization. I believe in the hype and recognize how difficult it is to win a championship and admire the players who make it happen. Rooting for the favorite has no challenge to it and victories are expected instead. The White Sox grinders promotions is what MLB used to be about and losing that will eventually ruin the game.
Go White Sox I will continue to back the philosphy you ,the Twins and the Cardinals promote. Their success will continue because each promotes excellence.
