Less of who I know, who I went to lunch with and what fruit I ate.More callers would be a nice change.Matt is a nice singer for bad rock bands however his parody songs are cool.Tighten it up.The show is not about you.The listeners want more sports talk.It is not about you and what you two goofballs want to shoot the sheet about.I do not give a rats rooty toot about your lives.Talk Sports.I Could give less than a care where you play golf or diddle each other or who was at your house.Tighten it up.I listen daily because I like sports talk but some days your show is a real hard listen.I thought Murph was an idiot but every once in a while when you two are putting me to sleep as I drive I miss him.(not).Really just work on it a bit.

The ink is barely dry on the seven-year extension Pat Fitzgerald signed in June.

The Northwestern coach believes that contract should settle any questions about whether he would be interested in Notre Dame if the school fires embattled coach Charlie Weis.

“I think I’ve made my intentions and my feelings about Northwestern crystal clear,” Fitzgerald told the Tribune after practice Wednesday.

Fitzgerald, whose Wildcats are 7-4 heading into Saturday’s game against Wisconsin, grew up a Notre Dame fan in Orland Park. But as a high school senior, he left a recruiting trip to South Bend early. And he said Wednesday his love of the Fighting Irish wore off “a long, long time ago.”

Many NU fans still fear Fitzgerald will take the Ara Parseghian route. Parseghian left Evanston for South Bend after the 1963 season and lost just 17 times in 11 years at Notre Dame.

That fear is rooted in concern that Notre Dame can pay more — Fitzgerald is believed to earn between $1 million and $1.5 million per year — and that he might have a chance to win more under the Dome.

Fitzgerald said Northwestern “absolutely” can compete for a national title.

“We were one win away in 1995,” he said. “We went into the Rose Bowl ranked No. 3 in the country. If we had beaten Miami of Ohio, we (might) have been No. 2 in the country.”

Fitzgerald also believes Northwestern is in line for more facilities upgrades. One possibility is to knock out part of Ryan Field, which generally sells out only when Ohio State visits, and construct coaches’ offices and a weight room.

“The support has been unparalleled,” Fitzgerald said. “Where we’re at right now, I couldn’t be happier. We need to continue to do our part to retain our great (coaching) staff and attract world-class (recruits).

“The rest of the things will come. When I came here in ‘93, we didn’t have a lot of (the facilities) we have now. That’s encouraging to me. We’re just getting started.”
