Wild Weekend For The Bulls

What a crazy weekend it was for the Bulls. First they lost a winnable game at Atlanta Friday night and afterwards Tyrus Thomas mouthed off to the coaching staff  (regarding his playing time) and eventually was suspended. Then zip ahead to Saturday night where, playing their fourth game in five nights (and very shorthanded) our heros in shorts held off Miami to win by four. In the wild Eastern Conference, the victory moved the Bulls from the 8th spot to a tie with Charlotte for the 6th playoff position.

In the theme of the crazy weekend we saw Brad Miller, not once but twice, grab a rebound and lead the fast break all the way down court. Miller using his self deprecating humor called it the slow break and actually he was right. Luol Deng led the Bulls with 25 points and Derrick Rose had 24 and how about Chris Richard (signed to a 10 day contract) contributing 7 rebounds in 20 minutes. That’s more then we can say about Thomas of late.

And then afterwards we learned from Joakim Noah that he had a medical procedure earlier in the week to help with his ongoing plantar fasciitis problem. Doctors took blood from Noah’s shoulder and inserted it into his ankle area so as to accelerate the heeling process. Sounds like something out of a Sci Fi movie. Noah has also been instructed to wear a boot on his foot until further notice and stay off his feet as much as possible. He had been planning a get away to a warm destination for the upcoming All Star break (meaning a spot in the Caribbean) and when asked if he’ll have to reconsider the get away, he told us…..”Are you nuts”?   I should have known better to ask.

Coulndt watch game live or radio. When I saw box score, I was so excited because for a fleeting moment I thought Ty Thomas had been held out because of a trade. Alas, only a suspension and a one-game respite from his awfulness.

Wish I could make a poster of screen shot from tv on Friday just after moment Thomas threw bad pass to start hawk fast break. It had Tyrus with the ‘oh ****’ face as he started chase down court, hawk player with ball and clear path to basket, and VDN with arms out palms open on sideline staring at thomas with the ‘WTF’ face. Priceless. Your 2010 chi bulls.
