Guys…
I thought Sean Payton was not only gutsy with the onside kick to start the 2nd half, but the Saints’ head coach did what few coaches have been able to do. That’s keep Colts’ QB Peyton Manning off the field for an extended time. Statistically, while the Saints may have been down 10-6 at halftime, they seemed to take control of the game from the 2nd quarter on. Believe it or not, I heard your overnight teammate Dan Patrick mention something on his show this morning say that Indianapolis ONLY had 8 offensive possessions the entire game and that New Orleans had about 18 minutes of possession time during that stretch in the 2nd & 3rd quarters of Super Bowl XLIV.
As for Westwood One’s Jim Gray, who normally hosts the radio network’s national pregame & halftime for “Monday Night Football” supposedly tying in the Saints’ first Super Bowl title in franchise history with Hurricane Katrina, it was definitely unnecessary and uncalled for. Just because it’s the first major pro sports title in New Orleans history isn’t going to change what happened back in 2005. The damage was already done when Katrina left a lot of that city in ruin. In fact, I’m very angered whenever people try to link Katrina and the Saints’ franchise, especially when they came here to Chicago for the NFC Championship game in 2006. Why so many people nationally picked the Saints to win that game because of the hurricane, I’ll never understand. In fact, Gray’s essay also mentioning Brees as “Brees-us” and “Drew Orleans” wasn’t just mentioned on Westwood One’s postgame show. Gray did it again during the pregame show with the references to Brees as if he’s God. I’m glad the Saints are the new Champions, but spare us the references to one of the worst hurricanes of all time.

the bears coaching search is the biggest joke in chicago right now

Bob Griese was never a super bowl MVP The two Dolphins were Jake Scott and Larry Csonka. So the show gave away a prize and the answeer was incorrect Drew Brees was only the 2nd MVP QB from Purdue.

Yeah, that super bowl shuffle ad was B.A.D. I had to change the channel on that one. Most of the ads were pretty bad I thought. The only one I really liked was the Chevy Chase/Beverley DeAngelo ad.
‘Hawks escape St. Louis with 2 points on Saturday. Francios St. Laurent is a f’ing idiot. Calling a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct in a 2-1 game with less than two minutes to go? That’s why he’s a career minor league official. No Eager, no King for that game. Kind of disappointing that Eager wasn’t dressed especially since Janssen was out there. Nice to see Ladd step up and drop the mitts, and Brewer Saturday. Nice little right cross put Brewer to a knee. Overall a pretty solid effort by Chicago but they still need to tighten things up. Niemi was absolutely awesome. He kept them in it for sure.
